Our school is located in Wildbach, a very small place near Deutschlandsberg. Deutschlandsberg is a city with 8000 people living there. We have a beautiful old castle in the heart of our city. Our area is well known for its special wines. Deutschlandsberg has some of the best restaurants. We have endless mountainbike-trails and many enjoyable playgrounds. We love our city! Unsere Schule liegt in Wildbach, einem kleinen Ort in der Nähe von Deutschlandsberg. Deutschlandsberg ist eine Stadt mit 8000 Einwohnern. Bei uns gibt es eine wunderschöne alte Burg im Herzen der Stadt. Unsere Gegend ist bekannt für ihre speziellen Weine. In unserer Stadt gibt es sehr gute Restaurants. Wir haben endlos lange Mountainbike-Strecken und viele lustige Spielplätze. Wir lieben unsere Stadt! Wir wünschen allen "Snapshot - Partnern" viel Glück!

Hello from Agros, Cyprus!

Our school was built in 1930 in the centre of our village Agros. It' s a village built in the mountains of Cyprus. It' s a very small school with only 65 pupils! We have a lot of fun at school as we are all friends and play altogether in our small playard. We wish luck to all schools that take part in Snaphot of Europe 2012! Our school is located in the centre of Coimbra. It has the name of Eugénio de Castro (1869-1944), a poet who was born and died in our hometown.

We like it because we can meet our friends and because it has got lots of trees.

"Jedynka" to najstarsza szkoła w Bogatyni. Liczy sobie ponad 65 lat. Do szkoły uczęszcza 350 uczniów w wieku od 6 do 13 lat. W szkole dobrze się bawimy, często tańczymy i poznajemy Europę w programach Comenius i eTwinning.

W Bogatyni mieszka około 20000 ludzi. Nasze miasteczko leży niedaleko granicy z Czechami i Niemcami w samym sercu Europy u podnóży Gór Izerskich i Łużyckich.

"Jedynka" (jedynka means one, school no. 1) is the oldest school in Bogatynia. Is over 65 years. The school has 350 pupils aged from 6 to 13 years. In school, we have fun, dance and learn about Europe in Comenius and eTwinning programms.

Population of Bogatynia is about 20,000 people. Our town is located near the border with the Czech Republic and Germany in the heart of Europe at the foot of Jizera and Lusatian Mountains.

Hello from Sibiu, Romania!

Our school is unique from all other schools - but hey, this can be said about any school really :-) Our school is located in the centre of our town Sibiu, and has the name of a famous 19th century Romanian teacher, Gheorghe Lazar.

We the 1030 pupils at Colegiul National Gheorghe Lazar Sibiu are well behaved and we care for each other and for the environment.

Our school is full of many happy students inspired by the challenges the 76 dedicated teachers of the school provide for us every weekday.

Școala noastră este unică între școli - dar hei, acest lucru poate fi spus despre orice școală de fapt :-) Școala noastră este situată în centrul orașului Sibiu, și poartă numele unui educator faimos al secolului al 19-lea, Gheorghe Lazăr. Noi cei 1030 de elevi ai Colegiului Național Gheorghe Lazăr Sibiu suntem bine crescuți si ne purtăm de grijă fiecăruia și mediului înconjurător. Școala noastră este plină de mulți elevi fericiți motivați de provocările pe care cei 76 de profesori ai școlii ni le pun în față în fiecare zi.

Osnovna šola Velika Dolina

Osnovna šola je dobila ime po vasi Velika Dolina. Osnovno šolo Velika Dolina obiskuje 121 učencev,imamo tudi tri oddelke vrtca. Šola leži v na vasi v bližini grada mokrice in sicer skoraj v središču vasi. Pouk se začne ob 7.35. uri in se predvidoma konča ob 14.00. uri. Učenci nižje stopnje  imajo malico ob 9.uri,učenci višje stopnje pa imamo malico ob 10.uri. Kosilo se začne ob 12. uri.

Osnovna šola Velika Dolina je kulturna in okolju prijazna šola. Poleg šole stoji kozolec toplar,ki smo ga zgradili v sklopu projekta »Z glavo za naravo«.

Šola je majhna in prijetna,ker se vsi med sabo poznamo.

The school got the name from the village called  Velika dolina. Elementary school Velika dolina has 121 students and we have also three kindergarden departments. The school lies near the Mokrice castle and almoust in the midle of then village. The lessons start at 7.35 and end at 14.00. Younger students have breakfast at 9.00 and odler stuents have brekfeast at 10.00. Lunch starts at 12.00                                                               

Elementary school Velika dolina is a cultural and environmental friendly school. Next to the school is a hayrack which was build in cooporation with the project with head for nature.

It's a small and nice school where everybody knows each other.

Hello from Sweden

Grimsås school is situated in the country side in the south part of Sweden, about 100 km south east of Gothenburg.
There are about 80 pupils in the school, in ages 6 -13 years old.
It is a small village, about 700 inhabitants. Many of them work on the big cable industri, Nexans Sweden.
In Grimsås there are many good photographers, and the interest for photograhing is shared between the generations.

We have a big schoolyard, where you can play different games in the breaks.

We really enjoy Snapshot of Europe, and thinks that it is a pity that so few countries will take part of the project this year.

Hello from Malta

Our school is called Dun Ġorġ Preca Primary School C and is part of St. Ġorġ Preca College. It is named after a Maltese priest who lived in  Ħamrun during his childhood and who became our first Maltese Catholic Saint in 2007. The school is situated in Ġuże’ Pace Street, Ħamrun.  Ħamrun is very near to our capital city, Valletta.

The school building is more than one hundred years old and the student population varies from year to year, as the population of this town is an aging population. We usually have between fifteen and twenty children in our classrooms.  There are very old documents, registers and papers shelves in the school archives, with the oldest register dating back to 1861. These old documents throw some light on the early attempts at education and schooling which became compulsory in 1946.

Children start attending school at the early age of three in kindergarten classes and finish their primary schooling in Year six. Classrooms in our school overlook a large yard where children play during break time. This yard is also used for activities and P.E. lessons on sunny days. We have a small gym which children use weekly. Our classrooms are well equipped with four computers and an interactive whiteboard. Thus every child has a chance to use the computer once a week…four children a day use the computer regularly.

The teachers play an important role in our school. Besides giving stimulating lessons, they organize extra-curricular activities and/or take part in projects with others schools. They take students out on educational outings to help them appreciate Malta’s historical heritage.

Hello from Qworzo - Belgium

Hello from Gemeentelijke Basisschool Qworzo - Merksplas in Belgium!

Qworzo is short for "Ik word zo", dutch for "I wanna become like that" and should only be spoken when having two thumbs up (which means "very good" in Belgium).  So children all come to a school in wich they want to become very good students, very good friends, very good people, ...

Merksplas is a town with about 8000 inhabitants in the North of Belgium.  About 300 - 350 pupils come to our school to learn all about math, languages, sports, computer, …  You may look at the video if you want to get to know our school a little better!

The students from year 5 and year 6 will compete in the Snapshot of Europe competition.  We organize a small school-competition to determine which photos we will send in first.

We want to wish every country a lot of fun and a lot of succes!

Qworzo is kort voor "Ik word zo", Nederlands voor "Ik word zo" en dit zou enkel uitgesproken mogen worden wanneer men twee duimen omhoog steekt (wat "zeer goed" betekent in het Nederlands).  Dus de kinderen komen allemaal naar een school waarin ze heel goede studenten, heel goede vrienden, heel goede mensen, ... willen worden.

Merksplas is een dorp met ongeveer 8000 inwoners in het noorden van België.  Tussen 300 en 350 leerlingen komen naar onze school om te leren over wiskunde, talen, sport, computer, …  U mag naar de video kijken als u onze school wat beter wil leren kennen!

De leerlingen uit het vijfde en zesde leerjaar zullen deelnemen aan de wedstrijd a Snapshot of Europe.  We organiseren eerst een kleine fotowedstrijd op school om de foto's die we willen inzenden te bepalen.

We willen elk land heel veel plezier en heel veel succes toewensen!

Hello from Medvode

Our school lies in Preska, a village not so far away from Slovenia's capital Ljubljana. It consists of two parts: the old and the new one. In the old part we have classrooms for art classes, history and craft, a dining room and a kitchen. We also have a very friendly chef, which will always make you laugh.  In the new, bigger part, there are classrooms for Science (Chemistry and Physics), Math and Slovene, English, Music, Biology, Geography and a computer classroom. There are also two gyms and a library with over 14,000 books.
There are about 450 students in our school at the very moment.
There are many interesting activities going on at our school. Students can visit sport activities such as basketball, football and volleyball, three school choirs and plenty of other classes. There are also extra lessons which are visited by students who want to know more about something, or who don't understand something.

Pouk poteka v eni izmeni, začne se ob 8.15 in konča okoli 15.00. Učenci lahko izbirajo med večjim številom izbirnih predmetov, med katerimi sta  tudi nemščina in francoščina, dopolnjujejo svoje znanje v naravoslovnem, prometnem in biološkem krožku. Ročne spretnosti lahko preizkusijo v likovnem in krožku ročnih del. Z veseljem obiskujejo tudi tečaje tujih jezikov, dramski krožek ter pevska zbora. Aktivni so v športnih dejavnostih, kot so badminton, košarka, odbojka, nogomet in atletika. Na šoli deluje tudi planinski krožek, ki sodeluje tudi z ostalimi šolami v občini.

Šola ima dve podružnici, in sicer na Topolu in v Sori.

Podružnična osnovna šola je na Topolu že več kot 45 let. Je med najvišje ležečimi  šolami v Sloveniji in je popolna osemletka, obiskuje jo med 20 in 30 učencev, ki jih poučuje 6 učiteljev. Pouk poteka v kombiniranih oddelkih. Na šoli je zelo dejavna dramska skupina, ki uprizarja igrice za krajane, učenci pa z veseljem sodelujejo v pevskem zboru. Na šoli delujejo tudi likovni, športni, računalniški in vrtnarski krožki. Šola živi in dela za kraj.

Podružnična osnovna šola Sora nadaljuje tradicijo šolstva že od leta 1873, ko je bilo zgrajeno prvo šolsko poslopje. Da je šola srce kraja, so dokazali krajani predvsem s tem, ko so si dolga leta prizadevali za novo šolo. Odprli so jo avgusta 1996. Šola je štirirazrednica, s telovadnico in lepo urejeno okolico. Obiskuje jo okoli 50 učencev. Na šoli delujejo športni, likovni, novinarski krožek in pevski zbor.

Osnovna škola Strahoninec je mala prigradska škola u Međimurju, na sjeveru Hrvatske. Pohađa je 327 učenika od 1. do 8. razreda.
Učionice su lijepo uređene. U školskoj knjižnici učenici mogu provoditi sate poslije škole , učiti i čitati lektiru.
Okoliš škole lijepo je uređen s mnogo cvijeća i drveća.
Naša škola posebna je i po akvariju s ribicama, portretima osmaša i sunčanom satu.
Učenici uče engleski i njemački. Volimo učiti kroz igru.
Za one koji to žele, mogu se uključiti u izvannastavne aktivnosti kao što su novinarska, sportska, foto grupa, zbor, tamburaši, eTwinning tim, matematička grupa i mnoge druge.



Primary school Strahoninec is a small suburban school situated in Međimurje, in the north of Croatia. There are 327 pupils in our school. 1st graders are the youngest and 8th graders are the oldest.
Our classrooms are nice. There is a school library in our school where pupils can spend some time after school reading and learning.
Around the school there are many beautiful flowers and trees.
Our school is special because of the aquarium , 8th graders photos and the sun clock.
Pupils in our school learn English and German. We love learning by playing.
We also have many extracurricular activities like sports group, photo group, young journalists, choir, tamburitza group, eTwinning team, maths group...

This is our nice school, it is built in 1919.

In the past there were more than 300 pupils at school, but today we're only 59. We start at school the year we turn six years old, and we stay here for seven years, then we have to go to the lower secondary school in Odda.

Dette er vår fine skole, den er bygd i 1919. I gamle dager var det mer enn 300 elever her, men i dag er vi bare 59. Vi begynner på skolen det året vi fyller seks år, og vi blir her i syv år, siden må vi reise til ungdomsskolen i Odda.

L'Escola Casa Nostra està situada a Banyoles, el costat de l'estany. Nosaltres pensem que es molt bonica. És molt gran i vella i el pati té molts arbres. El pati és més gran que altres patis de altres escoles. Té un menjador, una cuina, un laboratori, una biblioteca i una classe de anglès. 1r, 2n, 3r, 4t, 5è i 6è, també. La classe de música és molt interassant, té un piano, i parets grogues! És molt divertit! Hi ha un lloc per aparcar les bicis.

Casa Nostra school is in Banyoles, next to this lake. We think that it's very beautiful. Its very big and old and the playgruund has many trees. The playground is bigger than other playgrounds in other schools.It has a dining room, kitchen, laboratory, library and a english class. Class 1, class 2, class 3, class 4, class 5 and class 6, too. The music room is very interesting, it has got one piano, and yellow walls! it's very funny! It has a site for bikes too.

Was die Trolle (1. und 2. Klasse) über ihre Schule erzählen:
Wir mögen unseren großen Garten mit einer Hütte und Gängen im Gebüsch. Es gibt auch einen Fußballplatz und viel Platz zum Bauen. Alle Kinder können ein eigenes Beet haben.
Außerdem haben wir Schulschafe. Jedes Jahr werden Lämmer geboren.
Im Tobezimmer ist es prima. Wir spielen gern mit unseren Freunden und tauschen Star-Wars-Karten.
Im Keller gibt es den Kickerraum mit Kletterwand.
Unsere Schulküche versorgt uns zum Frühstück und Mittag mit eigenem leckerem Bioessen.
Bei uns braucht man keinen Schulranzen, und es gibt keine Hausaufgaben.
Die Pausen sind toll, aber wir arbeiten auch gern an unseren Schreibheften.
Wir haben viele Bücher und Spiele.
Wir lernen spielend Englisch und machen viele Ausflüge.
Donnerstags gehen wir in die Turnhalle und freitags schwimmen.
Toll, dass wir auch mit den Rasselbandenkindern spielen können.

What the Trolls (1st and 2nd grade) tell about their school:
We like our big garden with a hut and passageways in the bushes. There's also a soccer field and plenty of space for building. All children can have their own patch to grow plants. 
And we have school sheep. Each year new lambs are born.
We have a room for playing wild games and building with large mattrasses. It's great in there. We like to play with our friends and swap Star Wars cards.
In the basement there is the kicker room with a climbing wall.
Our school kitchen provides delicious organic food for breakfast and lunch.
Here, there's no need for a school bag, and we have no homework.
It is great to have breaks but we also enjoy our writing course material.
We have many books and lots of board games.
We learn English by playing, and we go on trips frequently. Thursdays we're in the gym and on Fridays we go swimming.
It's great that we can play with the children in the kindergarden Rasselbande.

Dear all!

The first (and only) extra task has to do with our photographic aims and will also introduce you to how the blogger page works.

You have all been invited to contribute to this blog as authors. Seven of you still need to accept my invitation.
As you can see on the right-hand side of the blog I have presented your schools and countries in alphabetical order.

Your task is now to have your pupils take a photo of your school and present it as a blog entry.
As with the Twinspace uploads you might want to consider downsizing your photos before uploading them.

Along with your photo please also write a little text about your school. Ask your pupils what they think is worth mentioning there to present your school. If your kids are older, it might be a good task for them to translate the text in English. Please also let us see your text in your native language. This will add to the presentation of our cultural backgrounds.
